Shiba Inus
The Shiba Inu is native to Japan since many, many years ago.
Shiba Inu mean "Little Brushwood Dog".  The Shiba was used for
hunting of small animals and birds.  They are naturally found in the
mountains of Japan and if it was not for a few dedicated people the
Shiba would have become extinct.  In 1934 the Shiba became
unified, in 1936 the breed was designated as a natural monument
and has become the breed it is today.  The Shiba is a hardy little
dog that does not need pampering and grooming that many breeds
do.  They have short hair with ears and a tail that is completely
natural.  They have great agility and attitude of gracefulness and
elegance.  They are a very friendly dog who is very attentive to it's
owners feelings.  A wonderful watch dog and excellent family pet
with loyalty beyond explanation.

Their size is 14" - 16" for a male and 13" - 15" for a female.

Their weight should fall between 17 - 25 lbs.

They come in three recognized colors:
Red, Red Sesame and Black & Tan.  They also come in cream.
Although the cream is unable to be shown, they make beautiful
pets.
